What it does
Built to do one thing, and do it cleanly.
Video, GIF & images
One button on every piece of media — single posts, threads, even quoted tweets. It pairs the button to the right file every time.
Pick your quality
Grab the highest resolution by default, or hold ⌥ Option to choose an exact size. Your preference is remembered for next time.
Private by design
No data collected, no analytics, no servers. The only thing stored is your quality setting — locally, on your own machine.
How it works
Three steps. Then it stays out of your way.
Install Xave
Add it from the store. It runs only on x.com — nowhere else.
Hover any media
A download button appears in the corner of videos, GIFs, and photos.
Click to save
The file downloads at your chosen quality, named for the post.
Privacy policy
We collect nothing. Here's the whole story.

The short version
Xave is a browser extension that lets you download videos, GIFs, and images from posts on X (formerly Twitter) to your own device. It does not collect, store, or transmit any personal data.
Data we collect
None. Xave has no servers, no analytics, and no third-party trackers. It never sends any information anywhere.
Data stored on your device
The only data Xave stores is your quality preference (preferred video and image resolution). It is saved locally in your browser via the standard extension storage API, is never uploaded or shared, and can be cleared at any time by removing the extension.
Permissions, and why
- downloads — to save the media file you choose to your device.
- storage — to remember your quality preference locally.
- host access (x.com, twitter.com, twimg.com) — to detect media on X and download the files. The extension runs only on X.
